Emerging Leaders is a program for first-year students (freshmen and transfer) that explores elements of leadership in a hands-on way through activities and discussions while bonding with fellow students. The program offers multiple sections of one-hour, weekly meetings where approximately 20 students are paired with a Campus Life staff member to refine their skills through a variety of exercises.
Throughout the program, students are also introduced to campus administrators and Senior student leaders to share with the Emerging Leaders the opportunities available to them to apply and strive for through their leadership development. Similarly, guest speakers from outside of Rider are also welcomed to bring all of the Emerging Leaders sections together to further the dialog of themes explored during the weekly meetings. Topics include budget management, event planning, public speaking, mediation and conflict resolution, effective communication, and dressing for success.
